The Great Outdoors

Bjorn In The USA

It was a beautiful weekend. Leah got to do all sorts of activities...stroller walks with Pete to the park, looking at cars for us to buy, a visit to the mall, going to church, hanging out at home, and the list goes on. Here's Leah in her Baby Bjorn. Much like the infant bath sling (see February 16..."sashay shante" in the archives for more on that), it's been sort of a love-hate relationship with the baby bjorn.

Leah did not enjoy facing inward, the required way to carry an an infant 8-13 lbs.. But she does seem to do ok facing out and getting to see the world. I think she'll like it even more when she is a bigger baby and doesn't have to have her arms through the armholes any more. The fold down front gives her something new and interesting to suck on. The girl won't take a pacifier, but she doesn't seem to have a problem trying to grab a mouthful of anything else that brushes past her lips! As we walked around the backyard, the front of the bjorn kept flipping back up in front of her face, resulting in sort of a Wilson from Home Improvement look (I'm probably dating myself with that) with just her eyes and sun hat in view.

It's a delight to see Leah moving past her frustrations with infancy and exploring and enjoying each new day of babyhood! Let's hope for a beautiful week where everyone can get outside and enjoy a little warmth and sun.

You look like you're ready to take on the trails up at Minnewaska or Mohonk. I'm ready for a hike if you are little one!
