Under the Wire: Happy Birthday Leah!

Well, I hope I can squeak this post out before midnight rolls around. Today was a very nice day. We wrapped up our visit with two of Leah's favorite people, Auntie Nicolle and (thanks to a new nickname from Aisy!) Uncle Jimmers. I know..."Jimmers" is an awesome nickname right? We stopped at Wegman's for (what else? but) pink funfetti cake and icing. Of course. Then lunch. A little Christmas tree tear down. The girls napped. Aisy escaped from her crib and trashed her room (again). Then it was off to the mall for a trip to Johnny Rockets (Leah's choice) and for Mommy to secure her new ipod touch. Merry Christmas to me!

There were gifts and lots of hugs and kisses, fun moments and priceless comments from the birthday girl herself. But the best part of all, and Leah's favorite part of the evening, was her free ice cream sundae and the entire J.R. wait staff singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Scratch that. The entire restaurant singing "Happy Birthday" to her! Our server announced her name and newly acquired age status over the microphone. I've honestly never seen her so happy and honored. The child who I constantly pester to say thank you, was beside herself with gratitude and nearly attacked our server with hugs and "thank yous."

The new year is already off to a very busy start, but I will always slow down for Leah's rosy-cheeked smile. What a joy to see her so happy on the 4th anniversary of her birth. The very day she opened my eyes to a happiness I am now so blessed to know and experience daily. The happiness that comes with being her Mom. I love you Leah.
